The Semester Programme is a full-time 15-week studio-based course open to undergraduate and graduate students from around the world. The programme is integrated with the AA’s undergraduate history and theory seminars and media and technical studies courses, and is designed to allow transferable study credits and the AA School awards a Certificate of Completion.
Terra Mítica theme park in the outskirts of the spanish city of Benidorm will be the ground of experimentation for this year’s core design studio. The deficient amount of tourism that the theme park attracts contrasted by Benidorm being one of the most popular year-long touristic destinations along the Mediterranean Sea opens the conversation to the concept of nowadays theme parks. Our challenge within the isolated and defined site will be to incorporate selected existing facilities with contemporary architectural interventions that will activate a new destination for the city’s tourism profile.
