Spain’s economic crisis has led to thousands of building sites being abandoned unfinished and unused. At the same time hundreds of thousands of families are being evicted for failing to repay unaffordable mortgages. The premise of this project is to reclaim unfinished building structures in which to provide affordable temporary accommodation for the most vulnerable sectors of the population until they are able to earn a proper livelihood. The proposals combine good environmental standards, low cost and easy construction providing architectural quality as well as a measure of protection from informal occupancy thus helping to reactivate the deserted city outskirts.
