Waterfall Fountain
Fountains used to bring life to the city of Istanbul. Now the lay lifeless on the side of the road. The waterfall fountain aims to recreate a public space for gathering and exchange.
This project is set in the oldest area of Istanbul, Fatih. The proposition is to revitalise some surprisingly decadent areas through the use of water. In order to do so, the project develops at different scales: from the daily thousands of traditional moments at the scale of the individual such as markets and gatherings in hammams, to the design of urban public terraces and plaza, to the absurd reactivation of the massive Roman water infrastructure. This creates a dynamic exchange of life activities dealing with the city, the people, the enormous lifeless ancient water network and urban public spaces.
