New New Territories
The project explores and subverts the notions of territory, ownership and control. As the International Space Station is run from control centres on earth, Hong Kong's precarious state of existence is guaranteed by a set of contradictions that validate its present yet question its future. Beyond 2047, can the city-state renegotiate its existence through the creation of a 3dimensional border? By claiming ‘new new territories’ detached from the ground can Hong Kong break away from its mainland control, and find an economic autonomy on the 9th floor?
