In an age where the economy is controlled by decisions made by computers, we are no longer in control of its behaviour, a global crash can happen in an instant as a result of the insane velocity of the HFT. The ‘Black box’ uses this information of the global economy as an input and sound as output to celebrate this event of uncertainty in the global economy through the erosion of the material. Since the construction of the ‘Black Box’ in 1997, there was much speculation on it existing in relation to religion, culture and economy as a result of its location in the core of the City of London between St Paul’s cathedral and the London stock exchange.

The Black Box is a part of the City of London, you can hear it and feel it every day. Everyone knows how it looks but no one knows what is behind it. Parts of it, even till today are still unknown. Throughout of its history, the Black Box was under many speculations, but it was always seen as a built interface, a built condition. It was built in 1997, in the area between St. Pauls cathedral and paternoster square.
